What Is Invisalign?

Without having to use the metal wires and brackets like traditional and lingual braces do, Invisalign effectively and conveniently improves smiles by slowly and gently moving the teeth through a series of removable, clear, plastic molds. 

Most cases of crooked teeth or abnormal bites can be successfully corrected through Invisalign, however, depending on how complex your case is, traditional treatment by an orthodontist may be recommended.

How Do I Get Invisalign? 

First, schedule a consultation with one of our experienced and caring dentists, Dr. Song or Dr. Cho. After evaluating your smile and discussing your options, if it is determined that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we will create a customized digital treatment plan just for you. Next, an impression of your teeth is taken and sent off to Invisalign for the design of your custom digital treatment plan.

Once the digital treatment plan returns to our office, our dentists will discuss it with you and if all is acceptable, will approve it allowing for your customized clear aligners to be created. The digital treatment plan will not only show the final outcome of your treatment but it will show exactly how the clear aligners will slowly adjust and correct your teeth in the process.

Next, your custom clear aligners will arrive and you’re ready to begin your treatment! Occasionally, small tooth-colored buttons will need to be placed over the teeth to help the treatment move along faster. 

How Long Does Treatment with Invisalign Take?

Every treatment is individualized, therefore, the duration may vary among individuals but typically, a full Invisalign treatment will take anywhere from 12-18 months.

It is critical to wear your retainers nightly after Invisalign treatment. This is so your teeth do not shift back to their initial position and require repeat orthodontic treatment.
